In this course, students will learn how to easily create an eco-dye effect on textiles. Also, included is a water-staining technique that I use as another layer on my Eco-stamped© fabrics, but it can also be used alone to create textiles that look aged and worn and as if they have been sitting in a corner of a dark, neglected attic with a leaky roof!
Please note: This is not a book-binding or bookmaking course. In this class, we will only be hand-dyeing textiles for you to use in your own projects. So whether you are covering an old book, covering a book you created, using the textiles in wall art or perhaps gift wrap, just make sure you won't be using your hand-dyed textile in any project that you will be laundering. Also, this is not an eco-printing process with actual leaves, mordants and steam. It is a faux technique used to mimic that effect.

Hello all, nice to meet you! I am Nik and I live in Colorado, USA. For the past few years, I've produced videos of my work on YouTube. You may know me from there! I have always been an artist, but I really found my calling with bookmaking. After developing tried and true methods of creating uniquely styled books, I have jumped into the world of online teaching. From this platform, I can interact with hundreds of students worldwide, spreading good cheer and Booksmithing techniques! Feel free to contact me and ask questions, if you like. Also, check out my YouTube channel for a look at past and present work and also course information videos. =)
